The Algerian government is gearing up to launch a massive railway project, spanning 1,000 km, as part of its efforts to develop the country's transportation infrastructure. The project aims to connect Algiers to Tamanrasset, a strategic and priority initiative for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The goal is to complete the project by the end of 2028, which would be a historic achievement for Algeria. The project is expected to boost economic growth, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for citizens.

The 1,000 km railway project is part of a larger plan to connect Algiers to Tamanrasset, covering over 2,000 km. The project is considered a top priority for the government, which aims to develop the country's transportation infrastructure and unlock its vast natural resources. Algeria has already made significant progress in developing its railway network, including the construction of a 950 km railway line connecting the Gara Djebilet iron ore deposit to Béchar.

The government has identified two Chinese companies, CRCC and CCECC, as key players in the project. A meeting was held on October 1 at the Ministry of Public Works to discuss the project's progress and preparations. The meeting brought together top officials from various companies, including Infrarail, Cosider TP, and the National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of Railway Investments (ANESRIF).

The project will be implemented in several phases, with the first phase focusing on the construction of 924 km of railway track. The track will be built in three sections: Laghouat – Ghardaïa – El Ménéa (495 km), El Ménéa to kilometer 216, and Tamanrasset – Moulay Lahcen (213 km). The government is working to mobilize resources and ensure the project's timely completion.

President Tebboune has emphasized the importance of completing the project on schedule, which is expected to have a significant impact on the country's economy and development. The project is also expected to create new opportunities for Algerian companies and boost the country's competitiveness.

The Algerian government has been investing heavily in its transportation infrastructure, with a focus on developing its railway network. The country has significant natural resources, including iron ore, phosphate, and other minerals, which can be exploited and transported more efficiently with the development of a modern railway system.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2028, which would be a major achievement for the Algerian government. The project will not only improve the country's transportation infrastructure but also contribute to its economic growth and development. Key players, including Chinese companies CRCC and CCECC, will play a crucial role in the project's success.
