Linkage Assurance, a Nigerian underwriter, has launched DiasporaCare+, a new insurance product designed to provide protection to Nigerians living abroad who own homes, vehicles, and other assets, or have family and financial interests in the country. This initiative aims to deepen insurance penetration in Nigeria by targeting the growing diaspora market. The product offers a comprehensive range of insurance coverage to address the evolving needs of Nigerians abroad.

According to Daniel Braie, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Linkage Assurance, DiasporaCare+ was developed to give Nigerians abroad greater confidence that their loved ones and assets back home are adequately protected. The product combines four areas of insurance protection: travel, home, automobiles, and holiday-related injuries. This move is part of the insurer's strategy to extend insurance services beyond geographical boundaries.

The DiasporaCare+ product offers various components, including Diaspora Travel Insurance, which covers the repatriation of mortal remains to Nigeria. Additionally, Diaspora Home Protection provides cover against fire, burglary, and personal accident risks. The product also includes Diaspora Auto Insurance, which offers comprehensive, restricted, third-party, and third-party-plus options. Furthermore, Diaspora Holiday Injury Insurance covers accidental bodily injuries and tropical illnesses.

The launch of DiasporaCare+ is a response to the continued economic and social ties between Nigerians abroad and their families, properties, and other interests in the country. Linkage Assurance aims to provide a dependable bridge between the diaspora community and home, addressing the unique needs of this customer segment. By doing so, the insurer hopes to increase insurance penetration in Nigeria.

With insurance penetration in Nigeria remaining low, Linkage Assurance is targeting the diaspora market to expand its customer base. The company's strategy involves developing products around emerging customer segments, particularly Nigerians in the diaspora. By offering a tailored insurance solution, Linkage Assurance aims to increase its market share and contribute to the growth of the insurance industry in Nigeria.

The diaspora market presents a significant opportunity for insurance companies in Nigeria. With many Nigerians abroad maintaining strong ties to their home country, there is a growing demand for insurance products that cater to their needs. Linkage Assurance's DiasporaCare+ product is poised to capitalize on this trend, providing a comprehensive insurance solution that addresses the unique challenges faced by Nigerians living abroad.

As the insurance industry in Nigeria continues to evolve, companies are exploring innovative ways to increase penetration and expand their customer base. Linkage Assurance's launch of DiasporaCare+ is a strategic move to tap into the growing diaspora market, providing a tailored insurance solution that meets the needs of Nigerians abroad. The product's success will depend on various factors, including customer uptake and the insurer's ability to effectively market the product.
