King Mohammed VI of Morocco has expressed deep concern over repeated attacks by Houthi militias against Saudi Arabia, condemning the targeting of civilian and economic facilities, vital infrastructure, cities, and residential areas. In messages to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Moroccan monarch reaffirmed Morocco's support for the Kingdom's security, sovereignty, and stability. The statement was issued by Morocco's Royal Office.
King Mohammed VI emphasized the strong religious, historical, and strategic ties between Morocco and Saudi Arabia, stressing the need for solidarity during the crisis. He described the attacks as "repeated ignoble attacks" that had targeted civilians, economic facilities, and vital infrastructure. The King expressed particular concern over attempts to target Mecca and Medina, describing the holy cities as "the Holiest places on Earth and the most sacred in the heart of every Muslim".
According to King Mohammed VI, the attacks constituted an aggression not only against Saudi Arabia but also against Muslims around the world. He stated that they were inconsistent with the principles of Islam, which promotes "peace, tolerance, and the sacred nature of blood, honor, and holy sites". The King condemned the attacks, holding the terrorist Houthi militias and those who support, fund, and arm them fully responsible.
King Mohammed VI stressed the close security relationship between Morocco and the Gulf states, stating that the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, like the security of the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, is inseparable from the security of the Kingdom of Morocco. He added that any aggression against Saudi Arabia is an aggression against Morocco.
The Moroccan monarch warned that continued attacks by armed groups and their regional supporters could undermine stability across the region and threaten vital maritime routes that are important to global trade and international navigation. He shared Saudi Arabia's concerns over the wider regional security situation and reaffirmed Morocco's readiness to stand alongside the Kingdom.
King Mohammed VI specifically cited UN Security Council Resolutions 2216 (2015) and 2722 (2024), which address the withdrawal and disarmament of militias and attacks on maritime navigation. He stated that the continuation of these aggressions constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.
The King concluded by emphasizing Morocco's position, stating that those responsible for the attacks should be held accountable "before God, history, and international law". He reaffirmed Morocco's support for Saudi Arabia's security and stability, highlighting the strong bonds of brotherhood that unite the two countries and their peoples.
