The Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC), an indigenous medical organization established in 1991, is seeking a Knowledge Management and Communications Advisor. The successful candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership in planning and implementing knowledge management and communication activities for a project. The JCRC is a joint venture between the Uganda Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense, and Makerere University Medical School. The organization is located in Kampala, Uganda.
The Knowledge Management and Communications Advisor will develop innovative approaches for knowledge sharing, organizational learning, and documentation and dissemination of project achievements, best practices, and lessons learned. The Advisor will design and implement communication strategies to strengthen stakeholder engagement, enhance project visibility, and promote a positive organizational image for JCRC and the project. The role involves working with senior project management to set knowledge management priorities and ensuring timely delivery of project knowledge management activities and deliverables.
The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in a related field is an added advantage. The candidate should have at least three years of relevant knowledge management experience, including experience with donor-funded global health projects. Demonstrated ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities is required.
The Knowledge Management and Communications Advisor will act as the primary point of contact with field-based colleagues and partners, coordinating knowledge management deliverables and keeping leadership updated on progress. The Advisor will ensure that knowledge management work complies with Branding and Marking standards, providing technical assistance and performance reviews to staff and partners. The role also involves producing high-quality print and digital knowledge products in collaboration with writers, editors, designers, and translators.
