The Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Guinea has issued a warning regarding certain lots of Bama mayonnaise, a product imported and marketed by GB FOODS WEST AFRICA. According to the ministry, 14,759 cartons of the product were seized as a precautionary measure following reports of quality issues. The seized products are currently undergoing physico-chemical and microbiological analysis by the National Office for Quality Control.

The ministry has identified specific lots of Bama mayonnaise that should not be consumed or sold. These include lots 2604203001, 2604303001, 2604403001, and 2604503001 of the 946 ml (32 oz) format, as well as lots 2601203001 and 2601303001 of the 473 ml (16 oz) format. Consumers are advised not to consume these products and to keep them at their disposal pending further instructions from the National Office for Quality Control.

In case of consumption of the affected products, consumers who experience any discomfort or illness are urged to seek medical attention at the nearest health center or call the emergency number 627 245327. Importers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers are required to suspend all stock movements, declare the affected lots to the National Office for Quality Control, and facilitate control operations.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has initiated administrative procedures against GB FOODS WEST AFRICA and demands that the company provide an exhaustive report of the stocks imported, distributed, and in transit within the country. Failure to comply with these measures may result in sanctions as per the country's legislation.

The ministry reaffirms its commitment to protecting consumer health and ensuring the sanitary safety of products available in the Guinean market. The public will be informed of any further developments in this case once the analysis results are published.

The warning was issued on October 28, 2026, by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Aboubacar KOUROUMA. The ministry is taking a proactive approach to address the quality concerns and prevent potential health risks associated with the consumption of the affected Bama mayonnaise products.

The National Office for Quality Control will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, consumers are advised to exercise caution and follow the ministry's instructions to ensure their safety.
