The Confédération générale des entreprises de Guinée (CGE-GUI) has expressed its commitment to supporting the newly formed Fédération patronale des associations professionnelles de la presse de Guinée (FEPAP-GUI). On October 30, Ismaël Keïta, vice-president of CGE-GUI, presented the organization's wishes to FEPAP-GUI at a ceremony held at the Haute Autorité de la Communication (HAC). The CGE-GUI aims to provide technical and financial assistance to FEPAP-GUI.

The FEPAP-GUI was established on October 8, following a constitutive general assembly. The new federation's executive bureau will receive support from CGE-GUI, which seeks to contribute to the emergence of an autonomous, sustainable, and fully operational organization. According to Keïta, the collaboration aims to ensure the institutional independence and viability of FEPAP-GUI. The goal is for FEPAP-GUI to become a self-sufficient entity with numerous members, transparent governance, and regular reporting to its members.

The media sector is considered sensitive, with its functioning relying on fundamental principles such as editorial independence and pluralism. Keïta emphasized that CGE-GUI's support for FEPAP-GUI will focus on the organization's structure, not content. He stressed that each institution will operate within its respective mission, with the HAC regulating and the federation defending the economic and professional interests of its members.

A new stage in the cooperation between CGE-GUI and FEPAP-GUI is set to begin, with a priority focus on finalizing the collective convention for the media sector. This commitment was made by CGE-GUI in November 2023, during tripartite negotiations. The expectation is for the FEPAP-GUI executive bureau to make this a top priority, in line with social dialogue.

Keïta also expressed his desire for a permanent consultation framework between institutions, promoting a professional media environment that is economically viable and respectful of fundamental principles. He called for regular and constructive dialogue with the HAC, in the interest of a professional, viable, and respected media sector.

The CGE-GUI vice-president wished the FEPAP-GUI executive bureau success in its mission, emphasizing that CGE-GUI will be a partner in this endeavor. The establishment of FEPAP-GUI marks a significant step in the structuring and consolidation of the Guinean press federation.

The collaboration between CGE-GUI and FEPAP-GUI aims to promote a robust and independent media sector in Guinea. Key aspects of this partnership include ensuring the autonomy and sustainability of FEPAP-GUI, as well as fostering a culture of transparency and accountability within the organization.
