The Guinean military has undergone a significant purge, with 39 soldiers dismissed from their positions for desertion. This move was made public through a presidential decree and a ministerial order read on national television on October 29, 2026. The decree, signed by the Head of State, applies to soldiers from the army, navy, and national gendarmerie.

According to the presidential decree D/2026/328/PRG/SGG, five officers have been dismissed from the Guinean Armed Forces for desertion. These officers include Lieutenant Jean Daniel Lamah, serving with the Kankan infantry company, Captain Sékou Ahmed Kéita from the Sinko infantry company, and Sublieutenants Aboubakar Touré and Sékou Soumah, both part of the Special Forces Group. Additionally, Sublieutenant Ibrahima Diogo Barry from the Labé Gendarmerie Region is also on the list of those dismissed by presidential decree.

The ministerial order A/241/PRG/MDN/CAB/2026, signed by Minister Delegate for National Defense Ibrahim Khalil Condé, has also led to the dismissal of several soldiers on similar grounds. Within the army, 12 soldiers have been dismissed, including Adjudant Moriba Kaba from the Pamalap infantry company, Adjudant Sékouba Kéira from the Kankan infantry company, and Sergeant-Chef Sékou Ahmed Tidiane Wan from the Koya infantry company. Other dismissed soldiers include Caporal-Chef Lansinet Camara and Caporals Fanta Nyami, Jacques Inogo Koyévogui, Abdoul Karim Traoré, Moussa Camara, Mamadi Traoré, and Fodé Soumah.

The purge extends beyond the army, with four naval personnel dismissed, including Adjudant-Chef Amadou Doumbouya, Adjudant Mohamed Chérif Camara, Caporal Billy Béavogui, and Caporal Mamadou Kémoko Diallo. The national gendarmerie has also been affected, with 18 personnel dismissed. Those dismissed from the gendarmerie include Adjudants-Chef Abdoulaye Fofana, Alpha Kourouma, Lay Touré, David Billyvogui, Alpha Tidiane Camara, and Mohamed Kalia Diawara.

Further dismissals from the gendarmerie include Adjudants Mohamed Lamine Camara, Sékou Mansaré, Mamadou Ourisso, Mohamed Lamine Kaba, and Abdoulaye Bangoura, as well as Maréchaux des Logis-Chef Ibrahima Sory Condé, Abou Inter Kéita, and Amadou Kéita. Additionally, Maréchal des Logis Oumar Camara and Élèves Gendarmes Fodé Marouane Camara, Karamoko Kanté, and Karinka Condé have also been dismissed.

According to the official documents, these measures took effect on October 29, 2026, the date of their signing. The Minister Delegate for National Defense has instructed the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie, the Inspector General of the Armed Forces, and the Directors General of the concerned services to ensure the implementation of the order.

The recent dismissals highlight the ongoing efforts of Guinea's military leadership to enforce discipline within the ranks. With a total of 39 soldiers dismissed across different branches of the military, this move demonstrates a firm stance against desertion and other forms of indiscipline.
