The Chadian government has announced that the National Student Congress will take place from November 26 to 28, 2026, in Bongor. The event, announced by Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training Dr. Sitack Yombatina, aims to promote a culture of leadership and academic excellence among student associations. The congress will focus on themes such as ethics, academic integrity, student participation, and employability.

According to the government's communiqué, the congress seeks to strengthen ethics, academic integrity, and responsible use of digital tools and artificial intelligence. It also aims to promote dialogue, conflict prevention, and responsible student representation. Additionally, the event will provide a platform for students to contribute to improving the quality of education, study conditions, and university life.

The congress will examine student projects and proposals on professional insertion, entrepreneurship, and student initiatives. It will also adopt a charter of commitment and a roadmap outlining responsibilities and follow-up deadlines. Student organizations are required to renew their sections by November 13, 2026, in accordance with their statutes and regulations.

Student organizations must submit the corresponding minutes to the General Directorate of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as the National Center for University Works (CNOU), by November 20, 2026. The minutes, section composition, and contact information of their leaders must be transmitted through establishment administrators.

Establishment administrators are encouraged to facilitate preparatory consultations and ensure the participation of students from different cycles. The exact location, program, and modalities for designating delegations will be communicated later. The event is expected to bring together students and stakeholders to discuss pressing issues in the education sector.

The government's decision to host the National Student Congress is seen as a move to engage students in the development of the education sector. By promoting a culture of leadership and academic excellence, the government aims to improve the quality of education and enhance student employability.

The Chadian government has previously taken steps to reform the education sector, including the suspension of the activities of the National Executive Bureau and the crisis committee of the National Union of Chadian Students (UNET). The upcoming congress is expected to provide a platform for students to contribute to the development of the sector and promote positive change.
