The Guinean Group GPC, a leading player in the infrastructure, logistics, and mining services sectors, recently took part in the inauguration of the Citizens' Park in Conakry. The group contributed to the realization of this new urban and sports infrastructure through its construction subsidiary, GPC Construction. The project was carried out in partnership with the Guinean Government and Rio Tinto Simfer.
The first phase of the Citizens' Park project presented a significant operational challenge for GPC's teams, who had to complete the work within 60 days in a demanding climate and technical environment. A total of 420,834 working hours were completed without accidents, demonstrating the attention paid to safety throughout the construction site.
The first phase of the project includes several sports facilities, such as an 11-a-side football pitch, five basketball courts, and three tennis courts. Additionally, it features a tartan athletics track, a 1,000-seat stand, and 5,760 square meters of parking, as well as associated roads and site fencing.
The construction work was carried out with a workforce composed of 97.28% Guinean nationals and 75% local suppliers, highlighting the capacity of local skills to contribute to the realization of large-scale infrastructure projects. The project's environmental dimension was also integrated from its design stage, with 10,060 square meters of green spaces, 30,000 plants, and 245 solar lamps.
The proximity of the Park to a sea arm required the implementation of adapted drainage solutions to ensure the durability of the infrastructure while preserving its environment. According to Amadou Kaba, CEO of the GPC Group, the realization of the Citizens' Park represents great pride for the teams, demonstrating what can be achieved when technical expertise, local skills, safety, and environmental responsibility are combined.
The Citizens' Park is designed as an accessible living space for the population, offering new areas dedicated to sports, leisure, strolling, and family activities. Approximately 500,000 visitors per year are expected. The realization of the Park strengthens GPC Construction's portfolio of references in urban and sports infrastructure and demonstrates the Group's ability to mobilize locally developed skills to execute complex projects.
The GPC Group is a Guinean player of reference in the fields of infrastructure, logistics, and mining services. Strongly rooted in the national economic fabric, GPC uses its expertise and know-how to serve sustainable, reliable, and locally-driven development.
