The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced that it generated US$1.011 billion in foreign exchange from its artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold trade operations in October 2026. This significant revenue was sold to authorised commercial banks through its GoldBod GoFX platform. The platform is a key component in the country's efforts to support stability in the foreign exchange market.

According to GoldBod, the sales were conducted in line with the approved FX Sales and Intermediation Framework. This framework ensures transparency, fairness, and regulatory compliance in all transactions. By operating within this structured environment, GoldBod aims to maintain the integrity of its operations while contributing to the country's economic stability.

GoldBod has projected that it will generate US$1.2 billion in foreign exchange from its ASM gold trade operations in November 2026. Of this projected amount, US$800 million is expected to be made available to commercial banks. This strategic allocation is intended to support foreign exchange market stability, which is crucial for Ghana's economic resilience.

The Board's efforts are aligned with the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP). This policy is designed to bolster the country's foreign reserves, which are essential for economic stability and development. By generating foreign exchange through its gold trade operations, GoldBod is playing a critical role in supporting Ghana's economic objectives.

GoldBod's commitment to transparency and regulatory compliance is underscored by its use of the GoFX platform. This platform facilitates the sale of gold to authorised commercial banks, ensuring that all transactions are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. Such practices are vital in maintaining trust and confidence in the country's gold trade operations.

The revenue generated by GoldBod from its ASM gold trade operations is a significant contributor to Ghana's foreign exchange earnings. The ASM sector is a crucial part of Ghana's mining industry, providing employment and income for many Ghanaians. By supporting this sector, GoldBod is also contributing to the country's socio-economic development.

GoldBod's achievement in generating US$1.011 billion in foreign exchange in October 2026 demonstrates its effectiveness in managing the country's gold trade operations. The Board's projections for November 2026 indicate a continued upward trend in foreign exchange earnings. This trend is expected to have a positive impact on Ghana's economy, supporting stability and growth.
