Algeria's national security apparatus has unveiled a modernization strategy aimed at bolstering public safety through digitalization, prevention, and deterrence. The strategy was announced by General Director of National Security, Ali Badawi, during a visit to the Boumerdès province. The initiative seeks to streamline procedures, enhance citizen engagement, and combat urban crime. The strategy's launch coincides with the 72nd anniversary of the Algerian liberation revolution.

The modernization strategy involves the introduction of new digital applications to simplify procedures and direct citizens to relevant authorities. Additionally, a new field security plan will focus on preventive, community-based, and deterrent measures to protect urban areas and curb various forms of crime. This approach is part of a broader vision to update police infrastructure and ensure the continuity of public services in line with rapid urban expansion.

During his visit, Badawi inaugurated new police facilities in the municipalities of Ouled Haddaj and Boudouaou. These facilities include a new police barracks in Ouled Haddaj, named after a national hero, and two new urban security headquarters in Boudouaou. The projects aim to improve security services and respond to the needs of local communities.

Badawi emphasized that gaining citizens' trust and fostering collaboration are crucial to the strategy's success. To achieve this, police officers are undergoing specialized training programs to develop their skills and adapt to new systems. This will enable them to efficiently direct citizens to relevant administrative and judicial authorities.

The General Directorate of National Security has identified three key areas of focus for its strategy: preventive security, community engagement, and strict deterrence. Preventive security measures aim to protect citizens from various threats and negative phenomena. Community engagement involves strengthening communication with local residents, particularly in new urban areas, to maintain public order. Deterrence efforts target organized crime groups and drug trafficking networks.

The strategy also involves integrating new digital services, including an electronic platform to address citizens' concerns and provide education through digital channels. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of security services and promote a culture of prevention and awareness among citizens.

The success of the strategy relies on close coordination between security services, judicial authorities, and local communities. By working together, Algerian authorities aim to create a safer and more secure environment for citizens, while also promoting a culture of trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the public.
