The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed N3.18 trillion and N3.40 trillion to the three tiers of government in May and June 2026, respectively, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The figures show that the amount allocated in June was about N210.68 billion higher than in May. In total, N6.58 trillion was allocated through FAAC over the two months.
The NBS data showed that the June allocation comprised N818.68 billion for the Federal Government, N759.14 billion for the states, and N534.28 billion for the 774 local government councils. Oil-producing states also received N188.13 billion as their 13 per cent derivation allocation. The June figure included N380.31 billion in statutory allocation and N378.83 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT) for the states.
The local governments received N293.20 billion in statutory allocation and N241.07 billion from VAT. The Federal Government received N749.80 billion in statutory allocation and N68.88 billion from VAT. The NBS data also recorded several transfers and deductions, including N266 billion for the Infrastructure Development Fund for states, N500 billion for the National Security Emergency Fund and N100 billion as tax refund to the Nigeria Revenue Service.
In May, the three tiers received N3.18 trillion through FAAC. The Federal Government received N787.35 billion, while the states received N772.36 billion, and the local governments received N540.15 billion. The oil-producing states received N157.25 billion as 13 per cent derivation. The May allocation also included N252 billion for the Infrastructure Development Fund for states and N250 billion for the Military Intervention Fund.
A further N200 billion was transferred to the Non-Oil Excess Revenue Account, while N50 billion was transferred to the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority. April revenue was lower, with a gross revenue figure of N3.18 trillion recorded for April 2026. The April allocation comprised N1.260 trillion in distributable statutory revenue, N747.09 billion in VAT and N250 billion in augmentation.
The latest figures also show that part of the money passing through FAAC was directed to special funds and transfers before the remaining revenue was shared. In May and June, N518 billion was allocated to the states’ Infrastructure Development Fund, while N750 billion was channelled to security-related funds, comprising N250 billion for the Military Intervention Fund and N500 billion for the National Security Emergency Fund.
The NBS data come against a broader increase in Federation Account revenues in the first half of 2026. An analysis of FAAC records published in August showed that gross FAAC revenue reached N18.72 trillion between January and June, while N12.59 trillion was actually distributed during the period after deductions for savings, interventions, refunds, transfers and collection costs.
