The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Jalingo branch, has proposed a bar investment and sustainability funds to build financial independence for the branch. This initiative aims to improve financial sustainability and ease the branch from financial challenges. According to Dr. Daniel Philemon Saredau, the branch chairman, members will contribute to the funds based on their year post-call.
The proposed funds will liberate the bar from the usual tradition of soliciting funds from government and individuals to conduct its activities. Dr. Saredau made this announcement during the general meeting of the branch. He commended the Nigerian Tribune newspaper, Rock FM Jalingo, Taraba news, and SumTV for accurately projecting the Jalingo bar.
The chairman informed that his administration has strategically secured partnerships with organisations to ease bar practice and improve members' well-being. These partnerships were secured within a few months of his administration. The partnerships aim to transform the bar practice and improve members' well-being.
Some of the secured partnerships include NHRC for Human Rights, partnership with Legal Aid Council for Pro-bono services, and Partnership with TAGIS. Additionally, the branch has partnered with Brim Energy Services, where members enjoy a 10% discount on refills. The branch has also secured partnerships with Anfani Bandawa Foundation, X-power Solar Solution, Covera, and Jurisflow.
The partnership with Anfani Bandawa Foundation includes a law pavilion for young lawyers. X-power Solar Solution will provide solar energy for the bar centre and members' houses, offices, and other spaces. Covera and Jurisflow will provide legal drafting software and legal practice management software, respectively. Sanlam Allianz will provide life assurance cover for members.
The administration has also engaged in a partnership with IDI Technical Services for the acquisition of printers and photocopier machines. The partnership aims to equip the NBA Business Centre with a new photocopy machine. The branch's online presence, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has significantly improved.
