The Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, has inaugurated a tuna fishing farm, a hotel, and military housing on Annobon Island. The inauguration was carried out on behalf of the Head of State. According to reports from Guinea Equatorial Press, the event was attended by officials and residents of the island. The projects are part of a larger development plan for Annobon Island, which includes 48 initiatives.

The tuna fishing farm is one of the key projects aimed at developing the country's fishing industry. The farm will have a production capacity of 1,500 cans of tuna per day, as well as 200-300 kilograms of smoked fish and approximately one ton of frozen fish. The project also includes a program for the production of fish feed using biological waste, which aims to contribute to the sustainability of apiculture projects.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by words of felicitations and encouragement for the Vice President's efforts to develop the island and improve the living conditions of its residents. The Vice President was praised for his role in supervising the commission responsible for monitoring the works on Annobon and Corisco islands. He emphasized that the projects aim to contribute to the development of national fishing resources, improve living conditions, and provide infrastructure to promote economic diversification.

The hotel, located in the Ajabo region, has presidential suites, conventional rooms, and complementary services aimed at improving hospitality and services for visitors. The hotel's implementation aims to leverage the island's natural attractions, including its beaches, landscapes, biodiversity, and cultural characteristics, as tourist attractions. The project also includes training for 27 national technicians in various specialties.

In addition to the tuna fishing farm and hotel, the Vice President also inaugurated military housing and laid the foundation stone for a second desalination plant. The plant will have a production capacity of 800,000 liters of drinking water per day and represents an investment of 2,200 million CFA francs. The projects are part of a larger investment package of approximately 348,000 million CFA francs allocated by the government for 48 development projects on Annobon Island.

The residents of Annobon Island presented special gifts to the President, First Lady, and Vice President during the event. The gifts symbolize the strong ties between the Vice President and the island, which the residents consider him to be a son of. The event marked a significant milestone in the development of the island and its infrastructure.
