Emirates has announced the introduction of the Airbus A350 on its Dubai-Nairobi route, commencing October 25, 2026. This new aircraft will replace existing flights EK717 and EK718, marking a significant upgrade for Kenyan travelers. The A350 can accommodate 298 passengers across three cabins: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. Each cabin features updated materials, lighting, and entertainment technology.
A notable addition to the Kenyan market is the introduction of Emirates' Premium Economy cabin, which has not been available on flights to or from Nairobi previously. The Premium Economy cabin offers leather reclining seats with adjustable headrests, a 13.3-inch personal screen, a wood-finished cocktail table, in-seat charging, and complimentary amenity kits. Passengers will also have access to Chandon Vintage Brut 2017 sparkling wine, a globally exclusive offering.
The Business Class on the A350 is configured in a 1-2-1 layout, providing every seat with direct aisle access. The fully lie-flat seat is upholstered in cream leather and features a personal minibar and wireless charging. Economy Class has been refreshed with a new color palette and 4K adjustable touchscreens running the airline's upgraded ice entertainment system.
Christophe Leloup, Emirates country manager in Kenya, expressed delight in bringing the latest aircraft and onboard experience to customers in Kenya, offering more comfort, choice, and thoughtful touches in every cabin. The introduction of the A350 follows Emirates' expansion of its Nairobi schedule to 21 flights per week earlier in 2026, with a third daily service between Dubai and Nairobi launched in July.
The expanded schedule aims to improve connections between Kenya and destinations across Europe and the United States via Dubai. Additionally, Emirates opened Africa's first Emirates World store in Nairobi in 2024, providing in-person booking and a hands-on look at its onboard products. The airline has also partnered with payment platform Cellulant to introduce a split-payment option for Kenyan travelers.
Tickets for the A350 service can be booked through emirates.com, the Emirates App, travel agents, or the Nairobi Emirates World store. All tickets booked after August 10, 2026, include unlimited free date changes to Dubai and one complimentary date change to any other destination, along with reduced refund fees across all cabin classes.
This development comes after Kenya Airways offered a five-day promotion with up to 50% off return fares on the Nairobi–Mombasa route aboard its Boeing 777-300ER. The airline will then send the aircraft to London for its inaugural flight on July 17, 2026.
