Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has stated that his administration has fulfilled all promises made to the people during the 2022 election campaign. This declaration was made at a Town Hall Meeting with stakeholders from Ekiti Central Senatorial District, as part of preparations for the 2027 Budget. Oyebanji emphasized that his administration had neither betrayed the people nor taken their needs for granted.
The governor pointed to the strategic ways residents' requests were captured during town hall meetings preceding annual budget preparations. According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, Oyebanji highlighted the quantum of projects executed across council areas. He expressed confidence in his administration's fidelity to its mandate, stating that records would show he didn't betray the people's trust.
Oyebanji assured the people that his administration would use collaboration with the World Bank through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project to deliver 1,500 kilometres of roads across the state. This aims to ease transportation challenges facing residents. Currently, 235 kilometres of roads are expected to be covered under the third phase of RAAMP, scheduled to commence after the rainy season.
The governor also addressed the burden of perennial flooding and gully erosion in Efon, Aramoko, and Ado Ekiti. He stated that his government had understudied the erosion occurrences affecting the state and was mapping out a strategy to tackle the problem head-on. Additionally, Oyebanji promised to improve medical facilities at the primary healthcare level.
Oyebanji disclosed that his government had renovated a total of 110 health centres to boost quality medicare at the grassroots. He pledged to undertake more renovations to reduce mortality and morbidity indices among the populace. The governor also expressed joy over the reduction in the level of security threats in the state.
Oyebanji appreciated traditional rulers for taking charge of security situations through intelligence gathering and the vigilance of their subjects. He credited their efforts for the reduction in security threats. The governor's re-election in June 2026 cemented his position as one of the more secure APC governors in the region.
Oyebanji's emergence as governor in October 2022 followed one of Ekiti's most closely watched governorship elections. He is set to be inaugurated for a second term on October 16. With his administration's track record, Oyebanji appears poised to continue his agenda for Ekiti State.
