Ain Shams University announced on Friday that the graduation project "CertusDrive" from the Faculty of Computers and Information has won the top prize at the final competition of the 2026 University Innovation Summit. This summit was held on September 23, 2026, in the city of Zewail, under the initiative "My Project, My Start," organized by the Ministry of Communications and Technology. The project was supervised by Dr. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information at Ain Shams University.
The 2026 University Innovation Summit saw widespread participation from Egyptian university students, with over 100 graduation projects from 30 universities and 24 schools competing. More than 1000 students participated, and the projects underwent evaluation and judging by a committee of experts and specialists. The "CertusDrive" team, consisting of students Israa Said Abdel Moneem, Salma Ashraf Foda, Hedir Ramadan, Tqa Karim Abdel Majid, Shahir Sayed, and Mona Saad, won the top prize under the supervision of Dr. Mona Abdel Aziz.
The "CertusDrive" project provides an intelligent system aimed at developing the management of heavy vehicle fleets, directing trucks, and enhancing driver safety on the roads. This is achieved by employing a range of modern technologies in artificial intelligence, computer vision, smart maps, and vehicle tracking. The project offers a comprehensive solution to several challenges associated with managing heavy vehicle fleets and driving safety.
The project includes several key components, such as an intelligent system for monitoring drivers using artificial intelligence and computer vision technologies. This system detects cases of drowsiness and distraction while driving and issues appropriate alerts. Additionally, it features an integrated system for managing vehicle fleets, allowing for organized monitoring of vehicles, drivers, trips, and fleet status.
The "CertusDrive" project also includes a system for tracking vehicles and managing trips using GPS and smart map technologies, taking into account the nature and requirements of heavy vehicles. Furthermore, it offers an intelligent control panel for management, enabling fleet officials to monitor vehicles, trips, drivers, and access fleet data clearly and systematically.
The work on the project did not stop after completing the graduation requirements. The team continued to develop "CertusDrive" and participate in various competitions and events. This allowed the students to test their ideas before judging panels and specialists, benefit from technical feedback, and continuously work on developing the project and improving its components.
The journey of the "CertusDrive" project culminated in winning the top prize at the 2026 University Innovation Summit, amidst widespread participation from graduation projects and students from various Egyptian universities. The project also garnered media attention, discussing the project's concept and the role of artificial intelligence technologies in developing innovative solutions for the transportation sector and fleet management.
