The Gombe State Government has assured 1,502 newly deployed National Youth Service Corps members of adequate security and welfare throughout their service year in the state. This assurance was given by Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Abdullahi Waziri, on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, during the swearing-in of Batch C Stream I corps members. The event took place at the temporary NYSC orientation camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area.

The batch comprises 803 males and 699 females, and Waziri urged the corps members to feel at home and contribute to the development of the state. He emphasized that the government would continue to prioritize their safety. According to Waziri, Governor Yahaya regrets not being able to attend the ceremony due to other commitments and has extended his message of goodwill to all the new corps members.

On security, Waziri assured the corps members that the state government had continued to prioritize their safety and wellbeing. He mentioned that security is provided whenever corps members are coming to ensure their safety and wellbeing are maintained. Waziri described Gombe as a peaceful state where corps members can deliver their service diligently without fear of harassment or intimidation.

The NYSC Gombe State Coordinator, Chinwe Nwachuku, also addressed the corps members, urging them to contribute to community development and obey the law during their service year. She expressed her expectations for the corps members to give their best to Gombe State and make a positive impact in terms of community development.

Nwachuku commended Governor Yahaya for supporting the NYSC scheme, particularly through facilities provided at the orientation camp and additional funding for corps members' feeding. She also appreciated residents of the state for their hospitality towards corps members.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the temporary NYSC orientation camp, with Waziri representing Governor Yahaya. The commissioner emphasized the governor's commitment to the welfare of the corps members and his hope that the next orientation exercise would be held at the permanent camp.
