During the inspection, Prime Minister Madbouli reviewed the executive mechanisms for expanding tree cover and green spaces along main roads, central islands, and city entrances. He stressed the importance of increasing green spaces and improving the urban environment. Minister Awad affirmed the ministry's support for governorates in implementing the President's directives and expanding afforestation efforts while preserving existing trees.
The Prime Minister's tour included inspecting afforestation efforts under the Ibrahim El-Arabi Bridge (formerly known as the 10th Bridge) in Cairo. He then visited the area under the Prophet's Mosque Bridge to monitor the progress of work according to the governorate's plan. The Prime Minister also visited the area under the Civilizations Axis to inspect afforestation efforts, emphasizing the need to continue this environmental project in all governorates.
Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber provided a detailed explanation of the governorate's plan to implement the President's directives. The plan involves a participatory approach with three main components: executive bodies, civil society organizations, and citizens themselves. The governorate's strategy includes raising awareness about the importance of afforestation and intensifying tree planting in suitable areas.
Governor Saber highlighted that the governorate has started implementing the "Green Cairo" plan scientifically, using a specialized consulting firm to select suitable tree species. The focus is on trees that provide shade, consume less water, and can thrive in Egypt's climate. The governorate has already planted over 3,000 trees and 700,000 shrubs and plants in various areas.
