Egyptian Housing Minister Randa El-Menashy has been monitoring the progress of several sewage projects in Minya, Asyut, and Aswan governorates as part of the presidential "Hayat Karima" initiative to develop rural areas. The projects are being implemented by the National Water and Sanitation Authority, which falls under the ministry's umbrella. El-Menashy emphasized the importance of accelerating work on these projects, as sanitation services are a vital necessity for citizens.
The minister received a report on the outcomes of inspection tours conducted by officials from the National Water and Sanitation Authority in the three governorates. The report highlighted the need for adherence to technical standards. In Minya, El-Menashy reviewed the status of sewage projects, including a lifting station in Nazlet Al-Hesabiya village and a treatment plant in Tanouf with a capacity of 20/40 thousand cubic meters per day.
The projects in Minya aim to serve 14 villages in the Der Mawas center, including a sewage lifting station in Beni Haram village. In Asyut, the minister inspected the status of a sewage treatment plant in Dshalut with a capacity of 30/20 thousand cubic meters per day, serving 15 villages in the Dayrut center. She also reviewed the progress of several sewage lifting stations in the area.
The inspection tours in Asyut also covered expansion projects for the Sadfa and Al-Ghana'im treatment plants, with a capacity of 40/20 thousand cubic meters per day, serving 17 villages in the Sadfa center. Another project inspected was the sewage treatment plant in Al-Kalabat with a capacity of 40/20 thousand cubic meters per day, serving 10 villages in the Al-Fath center.
In Aswan, El-Menashy monitored the progress of sewage projects, including a treatment plant in Armena and a lifting station in Al-Atamour. She also reviewed the status of sewage projects in Kom Ombo, including a lifting station in Sebil Abu Najdi and networks for sewage in Sebil Al-Arab.
The minister's tour also included inspecting sewage projects in Daboud, in the Nassr Al-Nuba center, and networks for sewage in Sluwa Qibli, in the Kom Ombo center. Another project reviewed was the sewage treatment plant in Wadi Al-Radisiya, in the Edfu center. The inspection tours were conducted by high-ranking officials from the National Water and Sanitation Authority and local executive agencies.
The projects under review aim to improve sanitation services for thousands of citizens in the three governorates. The "Hayat Karima" initiative seeks to develop rural areas and provide essential services, including sanitation.
