Egyptian Industry Minister Khaled Hisham participated in the opening of the 8th FDC Digital Industry Summit, held at the Cairo International Convention Center. Minister Hisham emphasized that the ability to employ technology and integrate it into production systems has become a key determinant of competitiveness and investment attraction.
Minister Hisham stated that the Ministry of Industry prioritizes technological update and transition to smart manufacturing as part of its strategy to build a strong and integrated industrial base. The goal is to deepen local manufacturing, increase exports, and enhance Egypt's integration into regional and global value chains. He noted that the development of Egyptian industry goes beyond adding new production lines to building a more intelligent, efficient, and secure industry.
The Minister highlighted the importance of supporting digital transformation applications, artificial intelligence, and industrial automation. He also emphasized the need to expand the adoption of smart manufacturing concepts to improve quality, efficiency, and supply chain management. Minister Hisham mentioned that the Ministry is working to expand the role of the Industrial Modernization Center to support industrial and technological transformation.
Minister Hisham stressed that the current and future direction of the state and the Ministry of Industry is to adopt the latest industrial technologies. He noted that many countries have made significant progress in establishing a technological infrastructure that serves various sectors, particularly the industry sector. The Minister also mentioned that there are significant incentives for factories that use technology and artificial intelligence applications in industrial processes.
On the sidelines of the summit, Minister Hisham and Communications Minister Ra'afat Hendy witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Industrial Modernization Center and the Egyptian cybersecurity company, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The protocol aims to secure industrial facilities and promote the use of cybersecurity solutions in the industrial sector.
The Minister emphasized that the competition in the industrial sector in the coming period will increasingly depend on innovation, speed of technology adoption, and securing industrial operations. He stressed that the integration of government, private sector, and research institutions is crucial for transforming artificial intelligence and digital solutions into practical applications.
The FDC Digital Industry Summit features an accompanying exhibition that brings together 60 companies from major global and local technology firms. The exhibition provides a platform for experts and investors to learn about the latest solutions, technologies, and innovations that shape the future of the digital economy.
