The Governor of Qalyubia, Dr. Eng. Hussam Abdel Fattah, recently discussed plans to convert Qalq and its affiliated areas in the Khanka center into a city. This was during a detailed presentation of the planning study and proposed urban vision, aligning with the region's nature and population growth rates. The meeting was attended by several officials, including the Secretary General of the Governorate and the Head of the Valley Institute of Engineering and Technology.
The planning study for converting Qalq into a city was reviewed by Dr. Fahima Al-Shahid, which included the future urban vision for the area, its population and urban components, and proposals for organizing the urban block and future extensions. The presentation also included a comprehensive vision for urban development in the area, aiming to achieve integration between residential and service areas and improve road networks.
The Governor emphasized that proper urban planning is the foundation for achieving balanced and sustainable development. He stressed the need for the plan to consider the current and future needs of citizens, not just urban expansion, but also a comprehensive plan for infrastructure and utility networks. The Governor also highlighted the importance of establishing an integrated sanitation system within the plan.
The Governor directed the completion of technical and planning studies and the review of various plan components in coordination with the concerned authorities. This includes studying the area's future needs for educational, health, social, and government services, as well as road networks, drinking water, sanitation, and basic utilities. The goal is to complete the necessary procedures for the plan.
The study to convert Qalq into a city comes within the governorate's approach to preparing comprehensive urban visions for areas with increasing population and urban growth. This aims to achieve optimal land use, support service provision, and improve citizens' quality of life, in accordance with the regulatory controls and laws for urban planning.
The Governor of Qalyubia also met with the Assistant Minister of Interior and Director of Qalyubia Security, discussing ways to enhance coordination between executive agencies. This meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation and improve security services in the governorate.
