Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with US business leaders on September 21, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting, which was organized by the US Chamber of Commerce, brought together representatives of major American companies. During the meeting, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of strategic relations between Egypt and the US.
Abdelatty highlighted the need to expand economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, in line with the depth of their relations and mutual interests. He also stressed the role of the American business community in supporting the economic partnership between the two countries and increasing US investments in the Egyptian market.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister reviewed the measures taken by the Egyptian government to improve the investment climate and facilitate procedures for investors. He also mentioned the ongoing implementation of the economic reform program and the restructuring of the state's role in the economy, which would allow for a greater role for the private sector and enhance its contribution to growth and job creation.
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's competitive advantages and promising investment opportunities, given its strategic location and access to regional and international markets. He also noted the significant development of Egypt's infrastructure. The Minister invited American companies to enhance their investments in Egypt, particularly in sectors such as communications, information technology, digitalization, healthcare, and energy.
The meeting also touched on regional developments and their impact on the global economy, supply chains, energy markets, and commodity prices. Abdelatty emphasized the need to resolve crises through political and diplomatic solutions, which would put an end to the escalation and instability.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister reviewed his country's stance on the Palestinian issue, which includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with sovereignty over the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the cessation of settlement activities and the occupation. This, he said, would contribute to achieving peace and stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by Nader Zaki, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions reflected the ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties between Egypt and the US, and to address regional challenges through diplomatic means.
