"Al-Arif" follows the story of Yunes, who gets into a dangerous conflict after carrying out an electronic robbery. The film is written by Mohamed Sayed Bashir and directed by Ahmed Alaa El-Din. Meanwhile, "Sehr El Layali" is set to return with a second part, more than 23 years after the release of the original film. However, this time, it will present a new story that discusses human relationships from the perspective of a different generation.
The new "Sehr El Layali" film is written by Tamer Habib and directed by Karim El-Shenawi, who emphasized that the film will pose questions about relationships in light of the significant changes brought about by modern communication tools. Additionally, the makers of "Shqou 2" are continuing their preparations for the new part, with the return of some of the stars of the first film, including Amr Youssef and Mohamed Mamdouh.
According to Egyptian critic Tarek El-Shenawi, the success of the first film does not necessarily mean the success of the second part. He stressed that the return must be based on a new dramatic idea and a clear technical justification, not just the desire to invest in the mass popularity of the original film. El-Shenawi added that the second part must have a real development and be compatible with the changes that have occurred in society and the audience.
Egyptian critic Magida Morris believes that presenting new parts of old films is not rejected, but it depends on the ability of the original story to touch the reality of the audience and their current issues. She pointed out that topics related to daily life, such as family disputes, women's rights, and inheritance, remain valid for discussion, provided that they are presented with a modern vision that attracts new generations.
However, Morris warned against reviving works whose stories have ended and are no longer related to reality, as this could turn into a technical facilitation and investment in old success instead of searching for new ideas. She emphasized that Egyptian cinema has a large stock of stories that can provide new works, but this requires imagination, courage, and a different vision.
Egyptian critic Ahmed Saad El-Din stressed that the spread of the phenomenon of second parts in cinema recently needs dramatic and technical controls. He confirmed that the success of the first part alone does not represent a sufficient justification for continuing the story. El-Din pointed out that there are models where the idea of successive parts succeeded, such as the "Qasr El Shouq" trilogy.
