Egyptian security forces have arrested a suspect, Youssef, for trafficking hashish and ice in Cairo's International Park. According to the Ministry of Interior, the suspect, also known as "Al-Suri," was apprehended after a series of videos and live streams on Facebook, in which a woman claimed that security forces had raided her home and arrested her husband. The videos sparked an investigation, leading to Youssef's arrest on July 25.
The investigation, led by Detective Ahmed Makhtar, revealed that Youssef had been using the International Park as a hub for his illicit activities, targeting young people visiting the park. He was reportedly riding a motorcycle without license plates, and selling hashish and ice to customers. The detective and his team conducted a sting operation, with an undercover source identifying Youssef and his location.
During the operation, Youssef was found to be in possession of a black bag containing a lit cigarette emitting a strong, pungent smell similar to burning hashish. The cigarette was confiscated, and upon inspection, it was found to contain a mixture of tobacco and a brown substance suspected to be hashish. Youssef was also found to have a large sum of cash, approximately 66,200 Egyptian pounds.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a gold-colored package containing a large quantity of hashish, as well as a small plastic bag containing a white substance suspected to be ice. Youssef was also found to be carrying a phone, a knife, and a stun gun. He admitted to trafficking the substances for profit and using the motorcycle to transport them.
Youssef reportedly confessed to storing additional quantities of hashish at his home in Ezbet Al-Hajana, Cairo. A search of his home led to the seizure of an additional quantity of hashish. The suspect and the confiscated items were taken to the police station for further investigation.
