The trade exchange between Egypt and the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) countries reached $1.1bn during the first seven months of 2026. This represents a significant increase from the $1bn recorded during the same period in 2025. The data was released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on the occasion of the El Alamein Africa Forum, hosted by New Alamein City.

Egyptian exports to NEPAD countries, which include Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa, reached $891m during the first seven months of 2026. This is a slight decrease from the $901m recorded during the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from these countries rose to $167m, up from $114m in the previous year. The increase in imports is a notable trend in Egypt's trade with NEPAD countries.

Algeria was the largest importer of Egyptian goods, with Egyptian exports to the country reaching $566m. Nigeria followed with $140.5m, South Africa with $138m, and Senegal with $46.5m. The main commodity groups exported to these countries included electrical machinery and equipment, plastics and articles thereof, and miscellaneous food preparations. These exports play a crucial role in Egypt's trade with NEPAD countries.

The main commodity groups imported from NEPAD countries included mineral fuels, oils, and products of their distillation, vehicles, tractors, and bicycles, and machinery and mechanical appliances. South Africa was the largest exporter to Egypt, with Egyptian imports from the country reaching $81m. Senegal followed with $58m, Algeria with $16m, and Nigeria with $12m. These imports contribute to Egypt's diverse trade portfolio.

In addition to trade, investments by NEPAD countries in Egypt reached $190.7m during the fiscal year 2024/2025. This represents a significant increase from the $39m recorded during the fiscal year 2023/2024. Egyptian investments in NEPAD countries also rose to $251m during the fiscal year 2024/2025, up from $143.3m in the previous year. These investments demonstrate the growing economic ties between Egypt and NEPAD countries.

Remittances from Egyptians working in NEPAD countries reached $27m during the fiscal year 2024/2025, up from $20.4m in the previous year. Remittances from workers from NEPAD countries in Egypt stood at $10.8m during the fiscal year 2024/2025, compared to $9.9m in the previous year. These remittances contribute to the economic well-being of families and communities.

The growth in trade, investments, and remittances between Egypt and NEPAD countries highlights the strengthening economic ties between the countries. The El Alamein Africa Forum, hosted by New Alamein City, provides a platform for discussing and promoting economic cooperation between Egypt and African countries. The forum aims to foster economic development and cooperation in the region.
