Egypt's textile sector has achieved significant export growth, reaching $617 million in the first seven months of 2026. This progress was announced by the Egyptian Export Council for Textiles and Spinning, led by Engineer Hani Salam. Despite global trade challenges, particularly in the Middle East, the sector remains optimistic about meeting its annual targets. The export growth reflects the resilience and adaptability of Egypt's textile industry.

The Export Council for Textiles and Spinning aims to achieve $1.291 billion in exports for 2026, representing a 10% increase from the previous year. According to Engineer Hani Salam, the council is confident in its ability to meet this target. The first seven months of 2026 have already seen the sector achieve 48% of its annual goal. Egypt's textile exports have shown significant diversity in terms of products. The most exported products include woven fabrics made from synthetic fibers, denim fabrics, and yarns made from synthetic fibers. Other notable products include cotton yarns, woven fabrics made from cotton, and linen fabrics. This diversity in exports highlights the sector's ability to cater to various international markets.

April and March 2026 followed closely, with export values of $93 million and $92 million, respectively. These figures indicate a strong performance by the sector during the first half of 2026.

Turkey remains the leading market for Egypt's textile exports, with a total value of $186 million in the first seven months of 2026. Italy and Algeria follow closely, with shares of 10% and 9%, respectively. The council also noted significant growth in exports to several markets, including Syria, Brazil, and India. Syria led the list with a 75% growth rate, followed by Brazil and India with 47% each. Other markets, such as China, America, and Morocco, also showed notable growth. To achieve its annual targets, the Export Council for Textiles and Spinning emphasizes the importance of diversifying export markets and capitalizing on high-growth markets.
