Another significant project involves the duplication of the Cairo-Alexandria rail line, which will improve freight services to the October Dry Port. Additionally, the Rubiki-10th of Ramadan project aims to operate freight trains, with port management currently handled by international companies, such as the Thya Egypt terminal in Alexandria.
The authority has witnessed a substantial increase in freight train operations. Previously, only one train per week was operated from the Thya Egypt terminal to the 6th of October City. However, this has been scaled up to five trains per day, reflecting the growing demand for efficient freight services in Egypt.
Engineer Mohamed Amer highlighted the authority's capability to reach most industrial zones and ports through its rail network. Ongoing projects, such as the duplication of the rail line from Tanta to Mansoura and Damietta, will further enhance freight services to Damietta Port. The development of this line from Damietta to Mansoura is currently underway, with technical contracts already approved.
