The Egyptian poultry sector has experienced significant growth in recent years, with investments exceeding 200 billion EGP, according to Dr. Tarek Suleiman, head of the Animal Wealth and Poultry Development Sector. This growth has led to the creation of 3.5 million direct and indirect job opportunities. The sector has seen a 14% increase in white chicken production, rising to 1.6 billion birds from 1.4 billion in the previous year.

On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, poultry prices in Egypt's stock exchange remained stable, with white chicken prices ranging from 75 to 76 EGP per kilogram at the farm level, according to Abdelaziz El-Sayed, head of the Poultry Wealth Committee at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce. The prices of local breed chickens were around 140-145 EGP, while Saso chickens cost 140 EGP for consumers.

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture is working to accelerate the process of opening new markets to absorb the surplus local production, given the sector's current boom. The ministry aims to provide support to small and large producers, as well as work on opening new export markets in Arab, African, and international countries. Egypt has been approved as one of the countries that apply the isolated poultry farm system according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) regulations.

The general poultry stock exchange prices on Tuesday were 75 EGP per kilogram for white chicken, while Saso chickens were priced at 112 EGP per kilogram. The prices of white mother chickens were 75 EGP at the farm level. The sector includes over 27,000 diverse farms, including those producing table eggs, broiler chickens, mother chickens, and companies specializing in producing parent and grandparent chickens.

According to the "Mohamed Adel" poultry stock exchange, prices were 75 EGP for white chickens and 110 EGP for Saso chickens per kilogram. The price of white chicks was 22 EGP. The industry is considered one of the main pillars of food security and the national economy. The state seeks to provide support to small breeders and large producers.

The "Munir El-Saqa" poultry stock exchange prices also stabilized at 75 EGP for white chickens. The Ministry of Agriculture is working to provide financing to breeders in cooperation with the National Bank of Egypt and the Egyptian Agricultural Bank to support the purchase of production requirements. The financing also includes the development of breeding rooms and their conversion from open to closed systems.

The prices of white chicks ranged between 27-28 EGP, while Saso chicks were priced between 19-20 EGP. A kilogram of white mother chickens cost 75 EGP. The stability of poultry prices in Egypt reflects the sector's efforts to maintain production levels and meet domestic demand. The sector's growth and stability are crucial for the country's food security and economy.
