The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has introduced a new traffic system, as per President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's orders, to simplify traffic licensing procedures. The system, starting on Thursday, October 1, will implement a single-window framework for issuing and renewing driving and vehicle operation licenses. This move aims to reduce the complexity and cost associated with obtaining licenses. Citizens will now be able to complete all financial transactions at one counter, and the remaining administrative phases will proceed without further payments.

Under the new system, citizens will pay service fees displayed on informational boards based on the license type using electronic payment systems within the traffic departments. The Ministry of Interior has abolished the requirement for mandatory safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and reflective warning triangles, when applying for or renewing licenses. This change aims to reduce the overall cost of issuing and renewing licenses.

The new decisions have led to significant reductions in licensing fees. The cost of driving license issuance and renewal has been reduced by LE500. Vehicle license issuance and renewal fees have been reduced by LE400 to LE600. Additionally, the cost of a light motorized bicycle license has been reduced to LE500, down from LE700, and the light motorcycle license is now LE500, down from LE750.

According to security sources, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq's new vision aims to streamline services, rationalize administrative procedures, and lower licensing expenses. The ministry developed an integrated strategy to modernize traffic services, following presidential instructions given during a joint meeting with the Cabinet and regional governors. The single-window framework allows citizens to complete all financial transactions at one counter only once.

The former Assistant Minister of Interior for Specialized Police, Medhat Qoreitem, described the move as an "excellent step" that alleviates the financial burden on citizens while aligning with the ministry's broader modernization efforts. He highlighted the additional convenience offered by mobile licensing units and centers located inside shopping malls.

Ayman al-Dabaa, the former Assistant Minister of Interior for Traffic, noted that President Sisi's directives received widespread praise and led to rapid implementation by the Ministry of Interior. Under the single-window system, citizens submit complete paperwork at a single counter, where staff inspect and review documents. Once verified, the license is issued directly from the same counter, saving time and effort.

The Ministry of Interior is implementing barcode systems and comfortable waiting areas to ensure a seamless experience for license applicants. The new traffic system is part of a broader effort to modernize public services and improve the overall experience for citizens. The changes aim to reduce bureaucracy and make the licensing process more efficient.
