Former Niger Delta agitator Endurance Amagbein, also known as "Adaka Boro the Second," has praised President Bola Tinubu for sustaining the vision of Nigeria's founding fathers. In a goodwill message marking Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary and Bayelsa State's 30th anniversary, Amagbein called for greater national unity and continuity as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
Amagbein reflected on Nigeria's journey since independence, noting that the country has experienced military rule, civil war, political transitions, economic difficulties, and security challenges. Despite these, he urged citizens to remain resilient in pursuit of the country's potential. He also praised the Tinubu administration's policies and programmes, claiming they have created an environment conducive to economic growth and business activities since May 2023.
Amagbein defended his support for the Tinubu administration, despite facing criticism on social media and offline. He stated that he remains committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda, citing the administration's achievements across various sectors. According to him, whoever succeeds Tinubu will have to work harder to match the current administration's record.
On national security, Amagbein commended the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and other service chiefs for their efforts in fighting terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes. He noted that attention to the welfare of military personnel has boosted their morale.
Amagbein also commented on Bayelsa State's 30th anniversary, calling for increased development projects in the state. He stressed that the progress of the Ijaw people depends on unity among stakeholders and commended Gov. Douye Diri for maintaining peace in Bayelsa. Amagbein expressed no regrets about supporting the governor's re-election, citing significant contributions to infrastructure development in the state.
Amagbein urged political stakeholders in Bayelsa and the wider Ijaw nation to avoid allowing political differences to undermine community development. He warned that the aftermath of past elections has left some communities struggling to recover from the consequences of political violence and division. Amagbein emphasized the importance of peaceful resolution of political differences to sustain stability and development in the state.
Amagbein congratulated citizens on Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary and Bayelsans on the 30th anniversary of the state's creation. He joined other Nigerians in celebrating these milestones, emphasizing the need for unity and continuity.
