The Egyptian government has announced plans to execute the fourth phase of its urban planning project, which aims to develop and organize urban areas across the country. During this period, the authority processed approximately 126,000 land survey requests and completed surveying work for lands along the Nile River in several provinces, including Aswan, Luxor, and Beni Suef. This work covered around 15,000 locations.
In addition to the ongoing projects, the authority is preparing to start land surveying work in five more provinces: Menoufia, Qalyubia, Gharbiya, Kafr El Sheikh, and Beheira. This expansion aims to enhance urban planning and development in these regions. The authority has also been involved in various other projects, including preparing reports and conducting surveys for different government agencies.
The Egyptian General Authority for Surveying has been actively engaged in several initiatives to support national development projects. Over the past year, the authority has completed 104 projects related to land acquisition for infrastructure development, such as roads, railways, and ports. These projects include the construction of the high-speed electric train, expansion of the Cairo ring road, and development of the Port of Safaga.
Dr. Hani Suwelim emphasized that the government is committed to completing the fourth phase of the urban planning project, which involves determining urban boundaries for cities, villages, and rural areas. So far, the project has identified urban areas for 75 rural areas and updated over 5,600 maps. The authority has also created or updated around 3,650 maps and completed surveying work for nearly 24,000 reference points.
The Egyptian General Authority for Surveying has established cooperation protocols with various government agencies and ministries to facilitate its work. These protocols include agreements with provincial governments to inventory state-owned properties and with other agencies to survey lands and prevent encroachments. The authority is currently in talks to establish similar protocols with the Health Care Authority, the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and the Irrigation Ministry's Drainage Authority.
