The Chairman of the Contact and Mobilisation Sub-Committee on Ethnic Nationality and Lagos State Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube, has commended the South-South Lagos APC women for their organisation and preparedness. He made this statement at a town hall meeting convened by the South-South People’s United Forum on October 5, 2026. The meeting featured the unveiling of the women’s campaign outfit and demonstrated the group’s growing level of organisation and readiness ahead of the 2027 elections.

Egube, who is the Forum’s apex leader, joined members of the group at the meeting. He expressed pride in the gathering, describing it as a reflection of the level of organisation, intentionality, and readiness being built within their structure. The women came together with energy, clarity of purpose, and a strong desire to contribute meaningfully to the work ahead. This display of unity and purpose was notable, according to Egube.

The Lagos State APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, also commended the initiative, noting that the South-South women were the first group to unveil a campaign outfit. Egube highlighted the importance of preparation and creating opportunities for members to participate in party activities. He emphasized that preparation and organisation matter, and when people are given the opportunity to participate meaningfully, they bring enormous value to the process.

The town hall meeting is part of the activities of the ethnic nationality sub-committee, which is responsible for engaging community groups across Lagos, strengthening relationships with their associations, and providing channels for communicating their concerns within the APC campaign structure. Egube, as chairman of the sub-committee, coordinates members across various ethnic nationality groupings and oversees its engagement programme within the party’s campaign structure for President Bola Tinubu, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, and other APC candidates.

Egube commended the leadership of the South-South People’s United Forum, its women leaders, and others involved in organising the town hall and unveiling. He stated that the goal is to continue building a platform where their people are heard, represented, and properly organised to play their part. The recognition of the South-South women’s efforts highlights the importance of grassroots mobilisation and organisation in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

The South-South People’s United Forum’s efforts to mobilise and organise its members, particularly the women, demonstrate a strategic approach to political engagement. By creating a platform for members to participate meaningfully, the forum aims to contribute to the APC’s success in the 2027 elections. Egube’s commendation of the South-South Lagos APC women underscores the significance of their role in the party’s campaign structure.

The town hall meeting and the unveiling of the women’s campaign outfit mark a significant milestone in the preparations for the 2027 elections. As the APC gears up for the elections, the party’s ability to mobilise and organise its members, particularly at the grassroots level, will be crucial to its success. The efforts of the South-South People’s United Forum and its women leaders will likely play a key role in shaping the party’s campaign strategy.
