The 22nd promotion of the Ecole supérieure internationale de Guerre (ESIG) in Yaounde officially began its 11-month training on October 2. The ceremony was presided over by Galax Etoga, Secretary of State for the Gendarmerie, on behalf of the Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense. The promotion consists of 55 senior officers from the armies of 21 African and European countries, including Cameroon.

The trainees will undergo general training in geopolitical analysis and understanding of African and global issues, planning and conducting operational and strategic operations, and adapting African armies to security challenges. They will receive two types of training: theoretical and operational. The theoretical training will cover general teachings, while the operational training will focus on four main areas: strategy and the art of war, management, leadership, and anticipation.

According to General Assoualaï Blama, Commander of ESIG, the operational training aims to enable the officers to understand the expectations linked to their future responsibilities and to plan operations that will be entrusted to them. The training will also cover inter-ministerial actions and security, as well as prospective vision on the world and Africa. This will enable the officers to develop their skills and expertise in a rapidly changing security environment.

The ESIG is a prestigious military academy that provides training to senior officers from African and European countries. The academy aims to promote understanding and cooperation among nations and to build capacity in the field of defense and security. The 22nd promotion of ESIG brings together officers from a diverse range of countries and backgrounds, providing a unique opportunity for networking and collaboration.

The training program at ESIG is designed to be comprehensive and challenging, covering a wide range of topics and issues. The officers will be taught by experienced instructors and will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources. The program will also include practical exercises and simulations, allowing the officers to apply their knowledge and skills in a realistic and dynamic environment.

The Secretary of State for the Gendarmerie, Galax Etoga, emphasized the importance of the training program and the role that ESIG plays in promoting regional security and stability. He encouraged the officers to take full advantage of the training and to work together to build strong relationships and partnerships. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries and officials from Cameroon and other participating countries.

The 11-month training program at ESIG will conclude with a graduation ceremony, where the officers will receive their diplomas and certificates. The officers will then return to their countries and take up their new roles, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and expertise needed to address the complex security challenges facing their nations. The ESIG continues to play a vital role in promoting peace and stability in Africa and beyond.
