DStv Kenya has announced a significant overhaul of its subscription packages, effective November 5, 2026. The company is replacing its six existing packages with four new ones, aiming to make premium TV more affordable for its subscribers. This move is part of a comprehensive review of its product line in its 30-year history in Kenya. The new packages are designed to offer a range of channel options and prices to suit different customer needs.

The new packages and their prices are as follows: DStv Starter at KES 750 per month, DStv Select at KES 1,500 per month, DStv Sports at KES 3,000 per month, and DStv Ultimate at KES 7,300 per month. These prices represent a significant reduction compared to the previous packages. For instance, the DStv Starter package replaces the old Access package, offering up to 116 channels, including local content, at KES 700 less per month.

The DStv Sports package is notable for being the first to carry every Premier League match in Kenya. It replaces the old Compact package at KES 1,200 less per month and includes up to 159 channels, featuring the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League, as well as WWE and UFC content. The DStv Ultimate package, which replaces the Premium package, offers up to 180 channels, including sports content like Formula 1, MotoGP, cricket, rugby, ATP tennis, and golf majors, at KES 4,400 less per month.

Existing subscribers will not be moved to a more expensive package without prior notice. MultiChoice Kenya has confirmed that customers can check their registered email or the MyDStv app for specific migration details. However, the company has not yet confirmed the migration path for Compact Plus and Lite subscribers.

In terms of decoder and installation prices, a new HD decoder and satellite dish costs KES 1,500, with installation costing an additional KES 500. DStv is running a hardware promotion from November 2, 2026, to February 28, 2027, offering discounts on selected decoders and bundles.

Customers can pay for their DStv subscriptions through various methods, including M-PESA and the MyDStv app. To pay via M-PESA, customers can follow a series of steps, including selecting Lipa na M-PESA, choosing Pay Bill, and entering their DStv smartcard number and subscription amount.

The new packages and prices are part of MultiChoice Kenya’s efforts to make premium TV more affordable and accessible. The company’s CEO, Nzola Miranda, described the overhaul as a significant step in its 30-year history in Kenya. With the new packages, subscribers can enjoy a range of channels and content, including Premier League matches, at reduced prices.
