The line 7 transport service in Dakar, Senegal, which connects the city's outskirts to its center, is facing numerous complaints from commuters. The line, which serves areas such as Ouakam, is often overcrowded, with many passengers expressing frustration with the long wait times and lack of available change from bus conductors.

Fatou Niang, a student at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop, is one commuter who expressed her dissatisfaction with the line 7 service. She stated that the buses are often overcrowded, and that there have been instances of pickpocketing on the buses. Niang suggested that the bus company, Dakar Dem Dikk, should consider increasing the number of buses on the line or implementing a system where buses depart as soon as they are full.

Other commuters, such as Mamadou Ndoye, have also expressed frustration with the line 7 service. Ndoye stated that bus conductors often refuse to accept certain denominations of currency, causing delays and tensions between passengers and conductors. He recounted an incident where a conductor stopped the bus and asked passengers to go find a gendarme to verify the situation.

According to Aliou Sy, a chief station master at the Ouakam terminus, the line 7 service operates with 14 buses, but demand far exceeds supply. Sy stated that the company does its best to regulate departures, but that traffic congestion and a lack of dedicated bus lanes often cause delays.

Jean Dasilva, a bus conductor on the line 7 service, provided additional insight into the challenges faced by the service. He stated that passengers are often responsible for making change for their fares, and that conductors are not supposed to accept certain denominations of currency. Dasilva also stated that the company does its best to ensure passenger safety and prevent incidents of pickpocketing.

The line 7 service is a vital transportation link for many Dakar residents, but its ongoing struggles with overcrowding, long wait times, and lack of change have led to widespread frustration. Commuters are calling for improvements to the service, including increased bus frequencies and more efficient management of passenger flow.

Despite the challenges, Dakar Dem Dikk is working to improve the line 7 service. The company has acknowledged the issues faced by commuters and is exploring solutions to address them. However, until these solutions are implemented, commuters will likely continue to face difficulties on the line 7 service.
