The CN Pillay Hospice, also known as the Chatsworth Regional Hospice Association, recently hosted its much-anticipated Family and Friends Fun Day at the Willow Park Primary School grounds. The event was a resounding success, filled with joy, excitement, and togetherness. The fun-filled day featured lively music, entertainment, sporting activities, delicious food, and sweet treats, showcasing the warm camaraderie that Chatsworth is known for.
The event saw a spectacular performance by the children and youth of the Sarva Dharma Ashram, who brought immense energy to the sporting activities and mesmerized the crowd with their beautiful dance performances. The day was not just about fun, but also carried a powerful purpose – commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month and celebrating a remarkable milestone – the completion of Jay Moodley’s 21, 1km 100-Day Walk/ Run Challenge in India.
Event co-ordinator, Mrs Niri Pillay, expressed sincere gratitude to all sponsors, donors, and well-wishers who contributed to the event's success. The hospice also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Umhlatuzana Civic for providing the beautiful Willow Park grounds free of charge, to the Fieldshill Athletic Club for co-ordinating the field events, and to various other organizations and individuals who supported the event.
The hospice acknowledged the generous support of Jackpersad and Partners and Lancet Laboratories, as well as the tireless dedication and selfless service of the Chatsworth Hospice volunteers, who are the backbone of all fundraising events. The volunteers play a crucial role in making every event possible, and their efforts are invaluable to the hospice's mission.
The Chatsworth Hospice is still accepting pledges for Jay Moodley’s 100-day challenge. The hospice humbly appeals to businesses, women’s groups, sporting clubs, NPOs, schools, and members of the public to contribute to the cause. Every rand raised goes directly towards sustaining the hospice’s vital palliative care services, which are offered at no cost to patients and families.
The hospice's 'mission of compassion' relies heavily on the support of the community. Those interested in partnering with the hospice can contact Pavi Reddy on 031 403-2273 to learn more about how they can make a difference.
