The 7th International Conference on Biohydrogels 2026 kicked off on October 29, 2026, in Casablanca, Morocco, with over 200 participants from 20 countries in attendance. The conference, which runs until October 31, brings together researchers, university professors, PhD students, and industry representatives to discuss the latest developments in biohydrogels. The event is being held at the International Center for Business Events (ICEC).

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Sciences Ben M'sik, University of Hassan II Casablanca, and the Moroccan Association for Biohydrogels, in partnership with the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Beni Mellal, the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies, University of Fez, the University of Nantes, France, and the Moroccan Association for Women Leaders in International Business (MOWAIB). This is the first time the conference has been held in Morocco and Africa.

The conference program features 11 keynote lectures, 70 oral presentations, 30 poster presentations, six scientific sessions, two workshops, and two roundtable discussions. Experts from Morocco, Poland, the UK, Singapore, France, Canada, the US, and Jordan are participating in the conference. The event covers topics such as smart biohydrogels, advanced biomaterials, nanotechnology, drug delivery systems, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.

The conference aims to promote scientific collaboration and partnerships between universities, research centers, and industry stakeholders. According to Professor Abdessalam El Bouari, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Ben M'sik, the conference is crucial for advancing research and development in biohydrogels, which have applications in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food processing, and environmental remediation.

Biohydrogels are used in various fields, including healthcare, pharmaceutical technology, biotechnology, and environmental protection. The conference provides a platform for young researchers and PhD students to present their work and engage with international experts. It also offers opportunities for networking and collaboration between academia and industry.

The conference is part of a series that started in Italy in 2007, with subsequent events held in European cities until 2021. The International Network for Biohydrogels was established in Nantes, France, in 2015. The Moroccan Association for Biohydrogels, a non-profit scientific organization, was founded in Casablanca in 2025.

The organization of this scientific event aligns with the Moroccan government's directives to support scientific research and technological innovation, promote university cooperation, and recognize national expertise. The conference is expected to contribute to the development of new technologies and applications in the field of biohydrogels.
