Fifty artisans from various fields in Dabou, Côte d'Ivoire, have enhanced their managerial skills in business management. The session, which took place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Havana space in Dabou, was initiated by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Handicrafts. The program aims to help artisans structure, manage, and develop their businesses to become more competitive.
The activity is being implemented by the Directorate for the Encouragement, Promotion of Handicrafts, and Mutuality. According to Georges Kinimo, Director of the directorate, the program focuses on several modules, including simplified accounting, formalization, and mutuality. These modules are designed to equip artisans with the necessary skills to manage their businesses effectively.
The simplified accounting module emphasizes the regular recording of income and expenses, conservation of supporting documents, and separation of workshop funds from personal expenses. The formalization module involves registration and enrollment of artisans to fulfill their tax obligations. The mutuality module aims to promote production and valorization of the value chain.
According to Kinimo, acquiring these skills and following these steps enables artisans to operate within a formal framework, contributing directly to the country's development. He encouraged the artisans to fully utilize the knowledge and information gained to achieve their objectives.
At the opening of the workshop, Regional Director of Commerce, Kponé Dzimaut Bérenger, welcomed the opportunity for capacity building. He urged the artisans from Dabou and the Grands Ponts region to continue their efforts in formalization, professionalism, and continuous improvement of their activities to enhance their competitiveness.
Bérenger expressed his availability to accompany and support their initiatives for the development of handicrafts in the Grands Ponts region. The workshop included practical exercises inspired by various trades, allowing participants to complete an account register and evaluate the results of their activities over a given period.
The program aims to empower artisans to become more competitive and contribute to the growth of the country's economy. With the acquired skills, the artisans can now better manage their businesses and make informed decisions to drive their enterprises forward.
