Business owners of Imo State origin have been advised to establish their businesses in the state to stimulate economic growth and development. Okenze Sylvester Obinna, the National Vice President (Eastern Zone) of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), made the call in Owerri, the Imo State capital. He emphasized that by doing so, business owners can create job opportunities for residents and contribute to the state's economic development.

Obinna encouraged business owners to register with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria to access improved knowledge and protect their businesses from unnecessary harassment. According to him, MAN serves as a unified platform for business owners and producers to advance their interests and make collective demands. By joining MAN, business owners can benefit from shared knowledge, expertise, and advocacy.

The MAN vice-president highlighted that establishing businesses in Imo State can help curb capital flight, kidnapping, and urban migration. He noted that with businesses operating in their communities, people will have access to good jobs and improved living standards. Obinna, who hails from Ngor Okpala local government area of Imo State, emphasized the importance of developing the area and encouraging others to invest in their communities.

Obinna cited the example of Nnewi, a community that has benefited from investments by its business owners. He encouraged Imo State business owners, particularly those from Ngor Okpala, to emulate this example and invest in their community. He noted that Ngor Okpala local government council is one of the most peaceful councils in the state, with no insecurity issues, making it an attractive location for businesses.

The businessman highlighted several infrastructure developments in Ngor Okpala, including the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, which is expected to begin full cargo operations soon, and the Afrieximbank Quality Control centre for the entire southeast. He also mentioned that the Orashi Electricity Company has improved power supply to businesses in the area, with some businesses enjoying over 18 hours of power daily.

Obinna expressed optimism about the prospects of businesses in Imo State, citing the operational Onne seaport, which is closer to Imo State-based businesses. He also mentioned that the MAN secretariat, located off the Sam Mbakwe Airport road, is nearing completion and will serve as a hub for business activities for manufacturers in the southeast.

The MAN vice-president concluded by inviting Imo State business owners, including pure water producers, to join MAN and benefit from insights on improving their businesses. He emphasized that membership in MAN can provide valuable opportunities for business growth and development, and that the association's new southeast zone office in Ngor Okpala will serve as a nerve centre for Igbo manufacturers.
