The All Progress Congress (APC) youth group, Renewed Hope for Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (RHYDEI), was launched in Abuja with a pledge to secure 20 million votes for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027. The group was inaugurated at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel over the weekend. RHYDEI aims to mobilise votes across the country's 774 local government areas.
RHYDEI has prominent figures in its leadership, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, as its National Chairman. Other zonal chairmen include Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani (North West); Dr Raymond Asemakaha (North Central); Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake (South West); Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo (South South); and Hon. Kingsley Ezekwelu (South East). However, they were absent during the launch.
Hon. Abayomi Odediran, President of RHYDEI, attributed the absence of the national chairman and zonal chairmen to their engagement in other assignments. Odediran assured President Tinubu that the group would work tirelessly for his re-election, affirming that they would take the Renewed Hope initiative to every ward in the 774 local government areas across the country.
Odediran praised President Tinubu for removing fuel subsidy and stabilising the economy, giving hope to youths. He criticised those who attempted to embarrass the President during the 81st UNGA in New York, United States, by hiring an American law firm. Odediran vowed that RHYDEI would defend the President against any form of propaganda or attack.
RHYDEI plans to create 10,000 trained youth ambassadors in all states to promote President Tinubu's achievements on the streets, social media, and markets. The group also aims to partner with Federal Government agencies to benefit at least one million youths through skills, grants, and loans before the 2027 election.
The launch of RHYDEI featured the inauguration of 36 states' coordinators and the FCT. The group is determined to demonstrate that the Renewed Hope initiative is working. Odediran described the movement as a love-driven effort to show Nigerians that President Tinubu is loved and appreciated.
The RHYDEI President expressed confidence in the group's ability to deliver 20 million votes for President Tinubu, describing it as a feasible task. With its nationwide reach and mobilisation efforts, RHYDEI is poised to play a significant role in the 2027 general elections.
