In celebration of the International Day of Older Persons on October 1st, the Manouba Center for the Protection of Older Persons has launched a diverse program of activities. The program, which began on Friday, is in partnership with civil society and kindergartens. It started with a breakfast offered to residents by the regional office of the Consumer Defense Organization. An workshop on Tunisian traditions and decorations also took place.

On Saturday, a recreational meeting was organized with the Tunisian Red Crescent of Jbel Jelloud. The event aimed to bring joy and excitement to the residents. According to the program, Monday will feature intellectual and sports competitions, including puzzles, cards, domino, bowling, and walking. Additionally, cooking, crafts, hairdressing, and beauty workshops are scheduled to take place.

An exhibition showcasing the creations of the residents is also part of the program. Furthermore, an excursion to several centers in Hammamet is planned, which will include a visit to the fort, sports and intellectual competitions, and practical workshops. The residents will also visit kindergartens and receive gifts.

On Thursday, October 1st, the center will open its doors to the relatives and families of the residents, as well as visitors. A health caravan, organized in coordination with the Manouba Regional Health Directorate, is also planned. Moreover, a musical show, a drum performance, a collective lunch, and a gift-giving ceremony will take place.

The celebrations will continue on Friday, October 2nd, with a ceremony honoring donors to the establishment and retired agents from 2025 and 2026. A collective birthday party for residents from several elderly care establishments in Greater Tunis will then be organized in partnership with the Tunisian Red Crescent and the Maison des Jeunes de la Cité Ettahrir.

The program aims to break the daily routine of the residents and promote convivial moments and exchanges. This event demonstrates the importance of community involvement and social interaction for the elderly. The activities are designed to bring joy, stimulate minds, and foster a sense of belonging among the residents.
