Algerian authorities have successfully dismantled three organized criminal networks involved in the illicit trafficking of psychotropic substances in Chlef province. The operations, carried out by the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of the Chlef security forces, resulted in the arrest of six individuals, including a woman and a girl, from Chlef, Tipaza, and Ouargla provinces. The operations were conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor.

The operations led to the seizure of nearly 4000 capsules of pregabalin, a psychotropic substance of foreign origin, hidden in two vehicles used for transportation. A significant amount of money, allegedly obtained from the illicit activity, was also confiscated. The investigations revealed that the networks were involved in the smuggling of psychotropic substances through a route connecting southeastern and central provinces.

The BRI's efforts aimed at combating illicit trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances have yielded significant results. The dismantling of these networks has disrupted the supply chain of psychotropic substances in the region. The authorities have identified the methods used by the networks to procure, conceal, and transport the substances.

The suspects were brought before the prosecutor of the Chlef court. Further investigations are expected to uncover more details about the networks and their connections. The authorities have not disclosed the exact value of the seized substances and the confiscated money.

The successful operations demonstrate the Algerian authorities' commitment to combating organized crime and illicit trafficking of psychotropic substances. The BRI's efforts have contributed significantly to disrupting the activities of these networks, which pose a threat to public health and security.

In a separate development, it is expected that the Tindouf free trade zone will be operational by the end of the year. This project aims to enhance international trade exchanges with West African countries. The development of this zone is anticipated to boost economic activities in the region.

The Algerian government has been working to strengthen its economic ties with neighboring countries. The Tindouf free trade zone is part of these efforts, which aim to promote economic growth and cooperation in the region. The project is expected to create new opportunities for trade and investment.
