Algeria has dispatched a team of experts from the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) to Niger to modernize the country's oil data bank. The mission, which runs from October 26 to 30, aims to conduct an in-depth assessment of Niger's data management and conservation systems, including infrastructure, equipment, software, human resources, and data security. This initiative is part of Algeria's efforts to strengthen its cooperation with Niger in the energy sector.

The Algerian experts will provide recommendations and propose a technical and financial roadmap to support the modernization of Niger's oil data bank and enhance the skills of local personnel. This move is in line with the fraternal and strategic cooperation between Algeria and Niger, based on sharing expertise, transferring skills, and valorizing natural resources. The two countries have been strengthening their ties in the energy sector, with Algeria providing significant support to Niger's oil and gas industry.

Algeria's assistance to Niger in the energy sector is not limited to the modernization of the oil data bank. In June, Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb inaugurated a 40-megawatt power plant in Niamey, built in just 70 days. The two countries have also agreed to implement the ambitious Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, which will transport 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Nigeria to Europe via Niger and Algeria. Work on the Algerian section of the pipeline began in July.

In addition to the TSGP project, Sonatrach, Algeria's state-owned oil company, and Niger's state-owned oil company, Sonidep, have signed an agreement to jointly exploit the Kafra oil field in northern Niger. Algeria has also provided technical support to Niger following an incident at an oil well in the Agadem perimeter. A team of Algerian experts visited Niger from October 12 to 19 to provide assistance to local teams.

Algeria's involvement in Niger's energy sector is part of its broader approach to promoting economic development and stability in the Sahel region. The country's support for Niger's oil and gas industry is seen as a key aspect of this strategy. By investing in Niger's energy sector, Algeria aims to help create a more stable and prosperous region.

The modernization of Niger's oil data bank is a significant step in the country's efforts to develop its energy sector. The project is expected to improve the efficiency and transparency of Niger's oil and gas operations, as well as enhance the country's ability to manage its hydrocarbon resources. Algeria's expertise in the energy sector will be invaluable in supporting Niger's efforts to develop its oil and gas industry.

The cooperation between Algeria and Niger in the energy sector has been strengthened in recent months, following the normalization of bilateral relations. The two countries have identified several areas of cooperation, including the development of oil and gas infrastructure, the transfer of technology and expertise, and the promotion of economic development in the Sahel region. The modernization of Niger's oil data bank is just one example of the growing cooperation between the two countries.
