The Algerian professional training sector has commenced its October 2026 session, welcoming over 400,000 stagiaires and apprentices across more than 1,100 establishments nationwide. This new session is marked by the introduction of 23 new specializations, including renewable energies, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, aimed at aligning with the country's evolving economic needs and job market demands.
The new specializations are designed to address priority sectors and respond to the needs of enterprises. The sector is also focusing on expanding English language instruction in various technical specialties, in line with requests from economic operators and the growing importance of English in certain technical and professional fields.
This session is part of a broader transformation of the professional training sector, with a focus on making employability a key criterion in designing training programs. The sector now relies more heavily on identified short- and medium-term needs to anticipate the skills sought by enterprises.
Digitalization is another significant change in this session, with two integrated platforms launched as part of the national digital services portal "Dzair Digital Services". The platforms, "Takwin" and "Tamhin", facilitate registrations, orientation, and connections between training establishments and enterprises, allowing for more efficient matching of training programs with labor market needs.
The new session follows recent efforts to support regions affected by wildfires in late August. The professional training sector was mobilized to contribute to national solidarity efforts, with over 500 stagiaires participating in rehabilitation works in Jijel.
In preparation for the new session, sector authorities established follow-up commissions to monitor daily the state of readiness of establishments across pedagogical, material, administrative, and digital aspects. These commissions ensured the availability of necessary facilities, equipment, and resources for a successful session.
The Algerian government aims to enhance the professional training sector's responsiveness to labor market needs and economic developments. With over 400,000 participants, this new session represents a significant step towards achieving this goal, with a focus on providing relevant skills and competencies to support the country's economic growth.
