The 2026 vocational training and education session was officially launched in Algeria's Tipasa province. Over 400,000 trainees and apprentices have joined sector establishments nationwide. This launch comes amid an adaptation of the offer to meet labor market needs, with 23 new specializations introduced and a new training and competency framework being implemented.
The Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nacima Arhab, inaugurated the session at the Chahida Saliha-Benhamdine National Institute of Vocational Training in Cherchell. She attended a presentation on the sector's situation in Tipasa, visited a trainees' achievements exhibition, and toured pedagogical workshops. The minister also handed certificates to trainers and entrepreneurship program beneficiaries.
The sector has introduced 23 new specializations, focusing on new technologies, renewable energies, and cybersecurity. Programs in the automotive industry will be launched in partnership with specialized companies. According to Abderrahmane Mezghrani, the goal is to better meet market needs for skills and training quality. The offer is no longer fixed for the entire year, thanks to the adoption of the National Training and Competency Framework.
The new framework allows for launching new training programs even during the school year. This change aims to reduce the gap between trained profiles and employer-required qualifications. Several economy sectors face significant needs for qualified labor. Innovation also plays a new role, with 25 "Make It Lab" technical laboratories to be deployed nationwide.
These labs will enable trainees to develop and incubate their ideas using equipment like 3D printers. The objective is to encourage experimentation and support young project leaders. The digitization of procedures is another key aspect, with online registrations through the "Takwin.dz" platform. The ministry highlights interconnection with national education and digitalization systems.
This interconnection eliminates several administrative documents for certain categories and facilitates trainee follow-up and registration. The sector aims to modernize not only training content but also administrative management. In Tipasa, over 13,500 trainees have joined vocational training establishments, including 8,467 new registrants.
The minister's visit continued at the Bou Ismaïl INSFP, where she inaugurated an excellence center, visited pedagogical workshops, and presented innovative projects developed in technical fields. With over 400,000 trainees, this launch is a new test for the sector, which must accompany national economy mutations while improving youth employability.
