Zoho has introduced a significant upgrade to its Analytics platform, incorporating a multi-agent AI system that enables users to interact with data conversationally and trigger actions. This development aims to transition businesses from mere data collection to informed decision-making and automated actions. The update centers around the conversational assistant Ask Zia, allowing users to pose natural-language questions instead of manually creating dashboards or reports.

The new architecture distributes tasks among specialized agents for data analysis, visualization, preparation, modeling, coding, and action execution, moving away from reliance on a single AI model. Additionally, two new layers have been introduced: a semantic layer that defines a shared glossary of terms and an ontology layer that maps relationships between entities, providing the agents with clearer business context.

Customers can now create custom agents built on their own data and knowledge bases. Ask Zia retains conversation history to maintain context across related tasks, enhancing user experience. Furthermore, the platform supports Zoho's own large language model as well as external models, and it has been opened to third-party AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol, with integrations like Claude already available.

The platform has also expanded its data connectors, adding over 30 new ones to its existing catalogue of more than 500 connectors that link Zoho applications and external services like SAP, PayPal, and Adobe Commerce. This enhancement allows for more comprehensive data integration and analysis.

Zoho emphasizes that customer data is not used to train its AI models. However, data shared with external assistants via the Model Context Protocol is subject to the provider's own policies. Administrators have control over AI feature activation, data access, and agent deployment, with options to require user approval for high-impact actions and tools that log agent activity and costs.

Veerakumar Natarajan, Zoho's Country Head for Kenya, highlighted the launch as a new leap in data analytics, emphasizing that a solid data foundation is essential for reliable agentic activity. This development is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of businesses in Kenya and beyond, leveraging advanced AI for more informed decision-making.

The launch of this advanced multi-agent AI system by Zoho marks a significant milestone in the evolution of data analytics, offering businesses powerful tools for conversational data interaction and automated actions. With its expanded capabilities and emphasis on data privacy and control, Zoho's upgraded Analytics platform is poised to make a substantial impact in the market.
