The Zarlor des Chefs à 4 mains event, launched in 2025 by the Office de Tourisme de l'Ouest de La Réunion, is set to return for its second edition from September 26 to October 3, 2026. This year's event aims to strengthen the culinary ties between Mauritius and La Réunion, promoting the exchange of skills and ideas between the two islands. The event features five Mauritian chefs paired with five Réunionnais chefs, working together in several establishments in the West of La Réunion.
This year's event boasts a diverse selection of chefs, with professionals having nearly 30 to over 40 years of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry, as well as a new generation of chefs bringing fresh approaches to Mauritian cuisine. The chefs will work together in a series of four-handed workshops, focusing on the theme "La mer et le végétal des deux îles soeurs" (The sea and the vegetable of the two sister islands). The workshops will highlight local products, Creole cuisine, and the multiple influences that shape the culinary heritage of Mauritius.
Five establishments in the West of La Réunion are participating in the event, each hosting a Mauritian chef who will work alongside a Réunionnais chef. At the LUX* St Gilles, chef Allonne Jean Alexandre Marie from LUX* Grand Baie will team up with chef Doris Puylaurent for three workshops on September 26, 27, and 30. The workshops will be followed by a lunch, with 10 participants per session.
Other participating establishments include the Boucan Canot, where chef Clifford Lamoureux from Coin de Mire Attitude will work with chef Mathieu Payet for two workshops on September 30 and October 2. The Relais de l'Hermitage will host chef Kainaat Aundoo from C Mauritius Palmar, who will team up with chef Mickael Moisson for three workshops on September 27, October 2, and 3.
The NESS by D-Ocean will feature chef Jean Paul Arlando from Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort, working alongside chef Fabien Caillebaut for three workshops on September 30, October 2, and 3. Finally, the Doudou Hôtel will host chef Patrick Soochit from Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita, who will team up with chef Estenia Mangue for two workshops on September 28 and 29.
According to Stéphanie Jautzy, director of the Office de Tourisme Intercommunal de l'Ouest, the event promises to create synergies and unforgettable experiences. The Zarlor des Chefs event goes beyond a culinary encounter, creating a space for transmission, creation, and exchange, where products, techniques, and know-how tell the stories and cultures of the two islands.
The event is supported by the Office de Tourisme Intercommunal de l'Ouest, the Territoire de l'Ouest, and the Blast Burson agency. With its unique concept and diverse selection of chefs, the Zarlor des Chefs à 4 mains event is set to become a highlight of the gastronomic calendar in the region.
