The City Boy Movement has launched a grassroots empowerment programme in Zamfara State, known as the Baba Tinubu Fisabilillahi Project 2027. The initiative was launched in Gusau, the state capital, under the leadership of Dr. Princess Aslam Aliyu, Gimbiyar Kaura. The programme aims to distribute equipment, food items, and cash assistance to beneficiaries across the state's 14 local government areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The flag-off ceremony was performed by Governor Dauda Lawal, while the project is part of a planned 19-state empowerment tour across Northern Nigeria. According to the organisers, the programme will distribute 1,000 sewing machines, 3,000 spaghetti-making and grinding machines, and 1,000 soybean processing kits. The package also includes 700 solar generators, 150 motorcycles, and 20,000 bags of rice to support small businesses and agricultural processing.
The organisers further announced plans to provide cash assistance to 15,000 beneficiaries, with a proposed cash intervention of N350m. The initiative also includes a clean water component, under which 150 hand-pump boreholes have reportedly been constructed across communities in the state. This water project is designed to improve access to safe drinking water and address challenges facing rural communities.
Following the launch, the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State commissioned one of the boreholes at Mareri village in Gusau Local Government Area. The empowerment programme is being coordinated by the City Boy Movement under the leadership of Seyi Tinubu, with Aliyu serving as its matron in Zamfara. The organisers said distribution teams would take the intervention to beneficiaries across all 14 local government areas.
The project also forms part of political mobilisation efforts ahead of President Bola Tinubu's anticipated re-election bid in 2027. The organisers said the initiative was intended to support livelihoods, promote small businesses, and strengthen grassroots participation in the President's Renewed Hope Agenda. The distribution of processing equipment, motorcycles, and solar generators is expected to support beneficiaries engaged in small-scale businesses.
The programme's impact is expected to be significant, with thousands of beneficiaries set to receive support. The City Boy Movement's efforts to extend the programme beyond the state capital demonstrate its commitment to reaching rural communities. The initiative's focus on empowering women and promoting small businesses aligns with the President's Renewed Hope Agenda.
As the programme continues to roll out across Zamfara State, beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the various interventions. The project's success will depend on effective implementation and coordination by the City Boy Movement and its partners. With its focus on grassroots empowerment, the Baba Tinubu Fisabilillahi Project 2027 has the potential to make a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of people in Zamfara State.
