The Tillabéri region in Niger recently played host to a regional workshop aimed at popularizing the 2025-2029 Refoundation Program of the Republic. The event, which took place on November 5, 2026, was presided over by Colonel Maïna Boukar, the region's governor. The workshop brought together various stakeholders, including regional and departmental officials, traditional and religious leaders, defense and security forces, and representatives from civil society organizations.

The primary objective of the workshop was to present the Refoundation Program to regional development actors, promote discussions around its orientations, and enhance its adoption by all stakeholders. The program is structured around four strategic axes: strengthening security and social cohesion, promoting good governance, developing production bases for economic sovereignty, and accelerating social reforms. These axes are designed to address the region's specific challenges.

Colonel Maïna Boukar, in his opening address, emphasized that the Refoundation Program was developed based on the vision of Niger's President, General Abdourahamane Tiani. He highlighted the region's unique realities, including geographical, economic, social, and security challenges, which require collective mobilization and shared responsibility. The governor also underscored the importance of addressing pressing regional concerns, such as security, peace, and social cohesion.

The Refoundation Program aims to contribute to the strengthening of state authority, improvement of administrative and local governance, promotion of social justice, and development of local economic initiatives. It also seeks to consolidate social cohesion and ensure the well-being of the region's populations. Colonel Boukar urged participants to pay close attention to the communications and discussions during the workshop.

The workshop aimed to adapt national Refoundation Program orientations to local realities. Participants were encouraged to engage in meaningful discussions to ensure a thorough understanding of the program's objectives. The governor also called on administrative officials and stakeholders to make the popularization of the Refoundation Program a permanent activity.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure the program's success through sustained engagement and communication. By doing so, the region hopes to achieve tangible results and improvements in the lives of its citizens. The workshop served as a platform for stakeholders to familiarize themselves with the program.

The event demonstrated the region's commitment to the Refoundation Program and its potential to drive positive change. Key stakeholders, including government officials, traditional leaders, and civil society representatives, came together to discuss the program's implications and opportunities.
